We believe that conscientious design is an essential part of every interior environment. In the same way the exterior shape and architectural elements of a house complement its surroundings, interior space not only needs to be an extension of the exterior, but also must compliment and enhance the lives of the people who live in the space.

We know that this does not happen automatically. It takes time, planning and hard work.

At Cross Design, we take the time to listen so that we really understand where our clients are coming from — what do they want their home to feel like, what is their style, what makes them comfortable?

HOW WE WORK
Everyone makes changes differently. We are happy to work as part of a design team or directly with a client, architect or contractor.

We realize that not everyone needs or wants a designer throughout a project. When this is the case, we are happy to consult on a project when you need us and then reappear when you need us again.

Regardless of the size of a project we always meet with a client for a complimentary consultation to understand and discuss the project and its scope. Whether you are building, remodeling or rearranging, don't hesitate to contact us if we can help.

  MORE ABOUT CARIN CROSS
Carin Cross, principal, is a woman of diverse background and interests. Born in the United States, she moved to Canada to study at McGill University in Montreal. After graduating, she spent the first part of her career practicing nursing in both hospital and community settings. She then moved to an island in Northern Ontario where she and her husband built a home and ran wilderness expeditions by canoe and snowshoe in northern Canada. The nearest community was an Ojibwa Indian reserve where her children started school and where Carin was involved in the community as a parent and community health worker.

After 13 years, she moved to Ottawa, Canada, then on to San Francisco and Lake Tahoe, before moving to Whitefish, MT. "Throughout all of these lives I was continually building houses, restoring and renovating. I eventually realized how fascinated I am with interior space — the way space flows, the effect of natural light, the balance and interplay of rooms and indoor and outdoor space. I finally decided to study design formally so I could pursue the field as a professional."

Carin received her design education at Algonquin College in Ottawa, Canada. Her more recent in-depth study of feng shui has added a new dimension to her knowledge and understanding of space.
